With the environmental crisis at hand in the Gulf of Mexico, more and more people are waking up to the fact that we must end our dependence on fossil fuels.  Well it’s a fact that HEMP can solve the problem, not alone of course but in combined effort with wind, solar, and other biodegradable natural resources.  Biomass energy systems can supply us with a sustainable source of fuel and will create millions of new clean jobs!  Did you know that the current rate of energy consumption by Americans(5% of world’s population)is using up 25-40% of the whole worlds energy, and that our energy cost of living is 80% of the total dollar expense of  living for each human being.  Let me break that down; it’s  like you go to work every day and you work hard and without even realizing it 33 of the 40 hours you put in goes to paying for the energy cost of all the goods and services you purchase such as transportation, heating, cooking, and lighting.  To top it off,  the fact that our fossil energy sources also supply appx. 80% of the solid and airborne pollution harming our planet is like we work to to live and pay for products that harm our environment and our bodies.  Wait, we work to kill ourselves?  Makes no sense right.  The quickest way to make a change is to drive less, carpool,  recycle everything.  Stop using plastic bags,in fact try not buying anything new made of plastic.  Try to buy glass, ceramic, bamboo, and hemp products.  These items last longer and aren’t as toxic to produce.  Hemp and bamboo are quick renewable resources that are biodegradeable.  Glass and ceramics are materials that you can find used and they can be recycled.  As for BP’s big oil spill,  this will become the norm if we don’t change our habits.  It also won’t change until enough of us realize that we can have an effect with our dollars and if we choose to not buy petroleum guzzling cars we can change the market, and the market will listen and soon  ”green” cars will be available to everyone. I cannot wait! I’ve been inspired by Jack Herer’s book “The Emporer Wears No Clothes” for the last 13 yrs. and it’s time that we all read this book and get active!

  1. 80% of every dollar! That leaves just 20% for Everything Else it takes to produce an item. That fact from Jack Herer’s book inspired me to chart out what it would take to fuel and feed the world with hemp. http://thehempcloud.com/global — that is a link to the google doc. Basically what it breaks down to is — plant hemp on half the planet (in acreage) and we would be 100% fueled by hemp. It really could power the planet and us!

Thanks for the comment and link. It’s very astonishing how much we can do with the hemp plant! I want to get the San Joaquin farmers to grow hemp here in central CALI.
It would create a big boost to our economy, and it would help the farmers make a sustainable living!
